Pros & Cons
Pros
The rules for d&d are easy to learn and easy to follow. This is a great book for dms who want to play clean simple old school style d&s;d. The rules are a throwback to old school rpg.
Great for getting beginners into gaming (even simpler then d&d 5e essentials). If you want to go all-out gritty old-school, this is the go-to game.
There are only three cleric, fighter, and mage, with thief being an optional fourth. Ac is provided in both ascending and descending order. It's also fully compatible with the swords & wizardry whitebox game.
Great throwback game. Give coherent feel. Compact and to the point.
Not only is it one of the cheapest rpg books you can find, it's also a blast to play. The interior artwork is masterfully done in the classic black and white style. The artwork is styled to fit the book perfectly.
Cons
Take all the rules of the original books, copy them pretty much verbatim. Include every bad trope, every cliche, every cringeworthy rule. It is digest sized and does not lay flat enough to be useful at the gaming table.

With the price at around five dollars, i figured it would be a low-risk investment.
But it does provide the basic framework for imaginative journeys into fantasy roleplaying.
Price
Love it and for the price you've got yourself what amounts to a portal of endless adventure.
Seriously, the caliber of art and layout in a roleplaying book that you’re getting for the price is incredible.
Packaging/appearance
This is a great repackaging of the swords and wizardry white box rules with added goodness.
Competitiveness
You can get a copy for everyone at the table for less than the cost of a wotc hardcover's msrp.
A great collection of streamlined old-school rpg rules based on old designs, but open to newer ideas.
