The display is a concealed lcd band that is simple and understandable. My only complaint is the display.

The unit has two drains. The tubing fits inside of the drain plug snuggly. The drip pan is just a pan. The dual hose system allows this ac unit to discharge most of the condensate to the outside via the exhaust hose.

This resets it to normal mode. The auto resume when power is lost is nice, because it means you can use it with a smart plug. With the modifications outlined above i am very happy with how it worked out.

Cons

Thermostat requires a 5 degree change in order to engage compressor (per owners manual). The fan never shuts off, just reduces speed so it creates a fair amount of noise. The heater seems like rather an afterthought.

The reservoir is quite small. The lower drain is too close to the floor to get anything under it.

His room is only 175 sq. Cons, the unit is very loud, and the hoses are bulky.

I received this portable a/c on the 2nd day same day the repair man in the process of fixing my central a/c.

Packaging/appearance

The packageing is such that it cannot be reboxed.

This was an "advance exchange" since i needed the packing material from the new device to pack up the old one.

The pac came in a large box, packaged well.

Installation was a cinch; the package comes with everything required to accommodate relatively any room situation.

Competitiveness

)in conclusion, the whynter dual hose portable air conditioner is easily the best product for your money.

It is also a lot quieter than my lg 9,000 btu.

Unit is a bit noisy, but 25% less than the 8000btu lg unit i was using, but cools 40% better.

I do find it a tad loud because i work close to it, but i've never owned any other portable a/c so i can't compare it to others.
