Pros

Whynter's fm-85 works flawlessly. It's well-tuned and responds to every suggestion. Spray corrosionx (orange, red, or blue) directly to all electronics and it will be “marinized” like mine and survive.

The only drawback is that the compressor is not completely silent. Used ac power from generator during the day. Used dc power in vehicle, and from solar generator while camping at night.

The boxy shape doubles as a nice table actually. Yes it's pricey, but well worth it.

Cons

Won't work on 12v or 110. I suspect the unit has a temperature 'high limit' switch which turns off at a certain temp. It says it cools down to -8, but mine will not go below 26.

The shipping alone makes this option not worth it. Of course this preferred retailer offers a jacked up retail price.

Customer support center appears to operate without accountability to manufacturer. Customer support is nonexistent. They really need to work on quality control.

A thousand miles later i arrived home, and the meat was perfect and ready to process.

He agreed, and said if it didn’t work, we could start the shipping process.

It was determined that the unit could not be repaired and jof had a new one shipped to me promptly at no cost.

Most companies offer worthless warranties but whynter stood by theirs.

Many name brand units can be rather pricey but i try to go for one that has good ratings and hopefully it will last more than 2 years.
