Its 12-inch length is too long to fit in a standard whetstone holder.

I had a 30 year old set of molybdenum knives that were so dull you could not cut a finger if you sawed at it

This is not a finish stone but its not described as a finish stone either it says medium right in the description

The stone sits flat on both sides though after putting an edge on 7 different duller than butter knife blades the light grey side has a bit of a bow in the middle

Only reason i didnt give 5 stars is the edges are very prone to crumbling if you run a blade too close to the edge of the stone with too much pressure
