Although it holds closer to 40 oz (not 42), the carafe works well. Now i put boiling water in it for an hour+ before adding any hot beverage & it works fine.

My only complaint is it came with no instructions not that you really need them but when i first used it i preheated it with hot water for about 5 minutes an hour then put in hot coffee which stayed hot for only about 30 min then became barely lukewarm

I did contact the maker tiger chef who were of no help whatsoever other than to tell me any instructions would be on the package or on the item itself
