The finish of the unit received is actually a very dark cherry not black as you would gather from the picture

My center speaker does not fit in the center section where i wanted to put it and i wish i could have gotten this unit in a width to match my screen but none of my issues can be faulted to this unit

The finish is nice its a really dark brown almost black with a few red tones when the sun is shining on it

I used the bottom shelf for the equipment and wanted to block out the hole for cords on the top shelf so i just taped up a black piece of cardboard to the back

It also had to hold a 40 tv and not look ridiculously undersized
