Pros
This is probably good since otherwise they may loosen under continuous use. They are also handy for hats, scarfs, and other smaller items. Once he got it together, it appears to have satisfied him.
Great looking coat tree, and a second order for me for the den. Brushed nickel really completes the expensive look.
It holds lots of heavy winter gear and looks great! It is sturdy and can hold several heavy coats. The bottom keeps it stable enough to hold a lot of coats, hats, and other accessories.
Easy to assemble with 2 people and power tools. You need to redrill which isn't a problem as long as you have a hand drill. Construction is a whole lot easier with a power screwdriver, however.
Cons
It looks good cosmetically but is a poorly designed product. Seller acts nice via email but is difficult to work with. Very poorly made. It's now completely worthless.

This wood is harder and the finish is closer to a mahogany stain than the other

I stabilized it to the wall for a no fall use and sawed off one foot for a close to the wall installation and the 134 standoff with keyhole hanger

In my case the threaded piece was pulling out of the bottom section as i tried to snug the top and bottom sections together

The end that was screwed into the bottom pole has lag screw threads and the end that screws into the top pole is m81

I ended up pulling the threaded piece out so i could glue it back in more securely

It appears that what actually started to separate was a hardwood sleeve that was glued into the hole as it was on the lag screw threads when i pulled it out

To remove the lag screw i went to the hardware store and got an m8 washer and m81
