Otherwise its simply a mildly entertaining story presented as a pseudobiography with almost no depth or point

Hes like a poor mans or hipsters henry miller but where as miller fills his vulgar writings with long quips on the meaning of life or human relations bukowski has almost none aside from a handful of sentences that deviate from the surface of his story which is told using minimal vocabulary and language
