Black emery is a coarse compound and is primarily used to remove scratches, minor imperfections, and minor pitting. Used as preparation prior to further polishing for a mirror finish. Applied to the buffing wheel and then buffing our a piece.

Cons
Green polishing compound shouldn't really be used on leather. Leather by itself has a higher grit rating, so stropping on leather with a lower grit compound renders the leather pointless.
