Pros

Installation instructions say use an appropriately sized drill to drill holes for mounting the detector. If there is any drawback to these, it's their slightly bulky design.

These x-sense are for slow smoldering fires, so i have these in the kitchen and great room areas. It's very loud, which is good for emergencies purposes. This unit actually saves you money in the long run and the disposal of 10 9 volt batteries.

The battery never needs replacement and will last for ten years. Takes the worry out of replacing battery every year. There is a seven year warranty that requires your amazon transaction number.

Cons

When it is installed on a 9-foot ceiling it is impossible to see it flashing, even in a darkened room. Decided to give it an actual smoke test with a piece of burning wood. Put a smoking candle under it and a cookie sheet of burning paper under it.

Don't risk your family's safety. No thank you.
