Pros

Ionization type detectors with americium have enough activity that if it got out at a nuclear plant, it would be a big deal. The smoke detector was sold for a very reasonable price.

This will last for the next 10 years without needing to be changed or worrying about the low battery chirp. It makes the house feel safer. Mine is a large ranch house with basement, but this would be great for two story homes especially.

Cons

This detector has to screw into its baseplate in order to activate the battery power switch. The baseplate is so thin and meshes with the detector so tightly that you must use the provided screws at exactly 10.

Last time i bought a '10-year' smoke detector (different brand), it lasted just 4 years, so anything beyond 4 years will be an improvement.

This works so much better than the cheap ones that need a 9v battery.
