If the installation location is not wired for smoke detectors, these are a good option. Cheaper than the wired-in variants. The only disadvantage is that when one of these goes off, ony one go off, not all of them since they are not wired together.

Therse days fire alarms need to be replaced every 10 years to maintain code compliance
