Pros

The packaging and instructions for the unit are well designed and laid out. Not needing to replace the battery for 5 years is wonderful. Will be buying more to replace my others.

All the wires are copper, but some people call the unshielded one copper wire which is used for the ground in most cases. The alarm itself is easy to install. The voice alert is clear enough to know what it is alarming about.

The detectors are square in shape and can be tricky to install depending on how well the contractors installed the wiring and wire housing/receptacle. If you know basic wiring it's very easy to install.

Green led illuminates a large portion of ceiling and casts shadows below. My only minor gripe is that that little led light can be bright and i wish there were a way to dim it. Next to it was a stick on battery operated smoke detector.

Cons

The battery operated detector was activated by the smoke but not the x-sense detector. Afterwards counld not turn it back on. Had to take down an discard.

The mounting ring on these detectors are 4 if the box sits above the drywall (into the atic) they give you 4 screws and wall mollies none of these screws fit a standard electrical box. You frantically run into all the kids bedrooms waking them up just... Read More

My permit cost around $150 for an entire house and it was based on the estimated number of circuits.

They are also reasonably priced for being smoke/co combos.

So, you are not looking at thousands of dollars.

Good price for a hard wired multi unit alarm.

Packaging/appearance

The quality of the packaging, wiring, screws, and screw housings included are very good.

Helps to know what you are doing, if it is in a box, hole is not needed.

Landed up having to obtain white plastic large round box covers and drilling a hole in the center of each for wiring.
