Its light but doesnt seem to be weak there is no flex and in many ways it is a better fit on the camera than the standard manfrotto plate that came with the ball head which has a tendency to slip and twist

So mounting the plate with the side part on the left and having that side snug up against the camera body seems to work fine

It will of course restrict access to some of the doorsbuttonssockets on the side of the camera but there is no way round this

Got this to try l bracket before spending big money on dedicated l bracket

It fits my d800 with limited access to doors but overall very good quality only minus is tripod screw needs coin or screwdriver to tighten securely

Only issue was second l bracket fell apart as screws were not tight had to be glued

Some people may be concerned that if flush with the left hand side of the camera body cant imagine why it would be any other way the shutter release port is unavailable
