Pros & Cons
Pros
It fit fine on my 2016 subaru impreza hatchback with an invisi-hitch mounted behind the bumper. There's a little movement in the tow hitch receiver, but it hasn't been an issue. The lock to the cable and the installer knob are the same.
It makes packing/unpacking the car so much easier. Releasing them is quick and the rack then swings away from the vehicle with sufficient force.
This rack is quite configurable. This means that it's easy to really crank down. Life is full of compromises.
The product comes in two main pieces that you must attach with a bolt. If you want to be sure that you have tightened it properly then you need a torque wrench and socket set.
Cons
It's got some significant shortsightedness that makes you wonder, do people at yakima actually use their own products? I hope their warranty covers this because i can't see this ending well--of course not intentionally.
A $42 tubetop accessory for each friggen bike does not fit 4 bikes. The receiver axle bent under the weight causing it to sag & fail. The straps that hold the bike the bike rack are so short i was able to attached 2 of our 4 bikes.
Assembly instructions are worse than ikea. Mounting to the hitch and tightening the proprietary locking mechanism is very difficult. The locking mechanism isn't the best of the trailer hitch.
The rack cannot safely be tilted down with bikes installed. Also, with the bikes on, it is extremely heavy to try to tilt.
Cable is not long enough to go over the top tubes of the bikes. Housing prevents you from using a crescent wrench or socket wrench to hold the bolt.
Highlights
Quality
Its extremely sturdy, very easy to use and install, the swing component is amazing and easy and it holds 4 bikes effortlessly.
It is a product very well built, firm, resistant, easy to install and occupies little storage space.
The racks stays wedged in even after unlocking and needs to be tapped with a mallet to remove, as suggested by the manufacturer.
The mount points slide and lock into place.
Price
The swingout convenience was worth more to us than the price difference, so if you can spare a pretty penny, it's very worth it.
We're very happy with the purchase, despite the price being quite a bit higher than tilt-down style bike racks.
Expensive, but i'm very happy with my purchase.
It’s expensive see if you can use some points for this.
Packaging/appearance
It makes packing/unpacking the car so much easier.
Now that it's on my car it looks great.
After i told her the real reason i phoned -- that i was just genuinely blown away by the quality of my new fullswing -- she sen... Read More
Competitiveness
Prior to this rack, i got one from a competitor, and it wasn't a cheap one, either.
Although the fullswing is of course more expensive than the fulltilt, it is currently cheaper than the tesla-branded fulltilt s... Read More
This rack was so much better thought-out than the other rack i had it's not even funny.
