Pros

This rack is very sturdy and once you have it set to your vehicle it’s extremely easy to set up each time. It mounts pretty solidly even with just 4 straps (top and bottom), unlike 6 (with side straps) on the old rack. Assuming on the new one all thre...  Read More

Very sturdy and solid. Holds cumulative 60 lbs. I use it for my fat bike which weighs about 40lbs.

The yakima has a superior system for holding the bikes in place we have used it three times since purchasing and has preformed better than expected. Easy to install, very sturdy, and holds bikes.

Cons

This is the manufacturer's fault, not the seller's, and the seller immediately approved the return. Buyer beware. If the seller does not refund my money, i will write a separate review.

No movement side to side and no bumping as we rode up and down.

Price

I would recommend spending the extra $$$ and purchase the hitch mount.

My wife has a low entry "girl's bike" which required an extra $50 part to be compatible.

Couldn't quite face spending another $1000 for a trailer hitch and hitch rack, and the halfback 2 is working fine so far.

Shipping

The item arrived quickly and was in good condition.

Competitiveness

I had a yakima trunk rack 8-10 years old and this was superior in every way to the older version.

A toy especially compared to the yakima.

The yakima website indicates this configuration (halfback 2) is discontinued.
