Pros & Cons
Pros
Bike fits securely, moreso than my thule which had a tendency to cause the bike to come loose after some time. Torqueright knob makes it easy to know when your wheel is perfectly secured. Rear strap can be installed on either side.
It sits low on the crossbars, and looks sleek and not as bulky as other yakima roof racks. Pros:*i love the tool-less and screw-less installation process. Uses on a tesla model 3 with tesla own roof racks.
Only issue is that one of the bikes has fenders and there's not way to adjust the rack to accommodate the fenders. It is very convenient being able to leave the wheels on the bike when transporting it to my biking route. Put two of them on my audi q4.... Read More
Pivot switchblade mountain bike with 29 wheelset. Brief outing to do a local ride - no worries. Tires get muddy and those 29ers are no joke when it comes to taking up space.
Cons
Just received crossbars. Unfortunately, there were parts missing from the box. Apparently, the box had been repackaged. I am dubious about waiting for a replacement.
Highlights
Quality
Heavy duty easy to install and love holds a dh bike no problem
Love this product, well made, easy to install, light and looks good.
In fact, i would say it doesn’t fit because the tire is actually sitting on the flimsy plastic end cap.
I would suggest this rack to anyone looking for a solid roof top option
Price
The only negative thing i have to say, is for the price, locks should have come included.
This is such a value that i'm going to buy another one for my other bikes.
I've seen roof racks costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars more.
For the price of this product the locks should be included.
Shipping
It fit easily on my 58” yakima round crossbars i got from rei with thule motion cargo box.
I put it on the day i received it and drove 22 hours round trip with a bike no problem.
The first shipment came in a damaged box and was missing a part.
Competitiveness
It was so much easier to mount to the roof rack than the thule because it used simple straps in lieu of metal bracket hardware.
This is the same with the thule racks.
Other minor qualms are the fact that the highroad racks are fairly wide compared to thule offerings and that each rack weighs 18lbs.
I bought both the yakima and the thule and the yakima is by far a better choice.
