Pros & Cons
Pros
Easy to assemble. Mounting to the bike hitch is effortless and it is quick to mount and dismount. I wound a bungee cord over and around the rubber straps on the bicycle rack arms that hold the bikes down as a added layer of security.
It is also worth mentioning that the hitchski is a large item. Good product, meets the need.
This product allows roof mounted cargo carrier and/or also allows easier access to skis once at your ski destination. The skis/snowboard themselves are locked to the ski rack.
Cons
The thule tram fits securely over my terragate hitch bike rack, but the top opening isn't deep enough to put in a pair of skis back to back if they have binding plates. It's easy to load and unload my snowboards but it's just too unstable while drivin... Read More
The hitchski is an abject fail if you want to carry more than 2 - 3 pairs of skis. There is only 15 inches between the lower and upper rails. The clamp and the ski form a horizontal crevice that retains water due to surface tension.
Highlights
Quality
The quality is there and the delivery in operation is perfect!
As i considered most of the cons prior to purchase i am very satisfied with this product!
Quality is okay - the frame is metal but the clips are plastic.
If i were to update the product i would have the bottom bar open much much further.
Shipping
It’s relatively cheap compared to a roof mount system ($215 or so with shipping + tax for me).

It would also be nice if they figured out a way to more easily accommodate at bindings

I can’t close the top rack latch with my at bindings closed

Not the biggest deal but it’s a bit of pain

I guess it would actually be pretty hard to accommodate both skis with at bindings and regular ski bindings on the same side without modifying the current system but thought i’d mention it anyway

An at binding closure arm adapter might be a nice addon

Not the greatest engineering behind it
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
The skis are too thick over the bindings for one set on each side
