Pros

Yakima product is superb, but don't buy anything from warehouse deals. It hauls our bikes like a champ. Four bikes is does stretch out the length of the rack, but it is very sturdy.

It folds up well, and then it is pretty tall, but not obstructive. There are products that attach to the bike to simulate a top bar so i can hang it but this swagman bike rack takes care of the problem without the extra equipment.

The rack holds bikes securely, and is easy to operate. It comes with an extra stabilizer pin for the holdup 2's rear hinge. When you set the bracket widths to your bike and snug the padded hook down, the bikes are nice and secure.

The instructions are fairly clear, but in a couple of cases, the easiest way to determine the orientation for the specific component is to figure out which way it needs to be installed for the yakima logo. I also notice that the van handles differentl... Read More

The included battery powered lights are also worthless.

For a rack extension at this price point, i would have thought that they wouldn't get cheap on the safety items.

Mine shipped without a nut for the bolt to fasten into.

I didn't know how to contact "warehouse deals" who sold and shipped the item, and so i contacted yakima directly.

Competitiveness

Other than the two above issues, this rack is fantastic, albeit expense, but with yakima, you really get what you pay for.

I'm sure they could work a deal with cateye and get some good lights without adding much to the overall cost of the unit.
