The bike is fastened onto the rack by stretching one of the holes in a rubber strap over a roundish plastic piece

I would imagine that over time the rubber will weaken but i have only had the rack for a month so i am not sure

I also used painters tape to cover the edges where the clips contact the car and did not see any scratches from the metal clips

These supports are able to move up and down the arms of the bike rack and sometimes the bikes will end up at different angles than what you put them on at
