Pros & Cons
Pros
Yakima is a staple in the fairing market. Just buy it and save yourself the literal headache. It is worth purchasing 100%!
Windshield does what it's intended to do. Makes car look sporty. Reduces noise and makes driving smoother. Looks like it saves me gas.
Inch yakima wind shield fits perfectly as if it is oem. Installed this on my 2009 subaru wrx hatch. Truly competes the look of a rack system on a sedan.
It completes the look of the roof rack and not only looks great but functions great. This fairing completely solved the problem, my rack is now silent. Had to order a crossbar (and accessories to mount to rails; etc.
Cons
No way to adjust with the yakima jetstream bars. Missing the bolts needed to connect the ties to the shield. Maybe plastic tie wraps are not the best way to secure this.
This is super shady. It's not effective. Disappointed for the price.
Highlights
Quality
Fits perfect, install was easy, works well with the system i already have, and will hopefully help to reduce noise and increase my mpg.
Quality of the product is exceptional and i would purchase again if i could.
I ended up buying this wind deflector after i chose to build my own, but realized it was not worth the time and trouble of sour... Read More
The straps are a nylon "aircraft" style "hose" clamp.
Price
Installation was indubitably refreshing as opposed to the $50 piece of *sugar* i got off of ebay.
So i gambled and purchased this item because my aftermarket roof rack was making an a whistling sound and it paid dividends!
I luckily got this used at a very good price, if not the regular price would is not worth it.
I paid $101, but i do see that now it has gone up almost $40 in price since i bought mine.
Shipping
Shipping was fast, i received my order less than 5 days after i put my order in.
Packaging/appearance
It looks nice and i’ve gotten some nice compliments!
Looks nice and stops the whistling issue that i was having.
The only thing i did not like was that one of the clips came damaged with a crack in it.
Competitiveness
Plus yakima is universal so it works across multiple brands.
) looks better and less expensive than thule.
I tested out another brand name roof rack from home to work and that rack did not perform as well as this yakima.
I compared the length and i am planning to buy the 46” for my x5 at a later point.
