That leaves lots of clearance between the loaded rack and wheel easier to strap on bags and less likely for stuff to get caught in the wheel
I bought two of these for two different bikes nonsuspension touring bikes and on both bikes i had to do homemade modifications to make the rack fit and get it horizontal
Im glad i got the mountain bike version
