I can see how they were attempting to achieve this through the use of small magnets near the button and on the lid one will repel the other and perhaps mine just wasn’t magnetically charged enough to function

I’ve actually lost airpods that way with a similar style case in the past keyring attached to belt loop and case but airpods not in case lol
