Pros & Cons
Pros
Zinsser oil primer sealer goes on smoothly with a brush and leaves no brush marks. The second coat levels some of the irregularities of the first coat. The primer is vital to getting a smooth and easy to apply finish coat.
Zinsser oil primer works greats on materials that don't like water. Used it to cover an 80's oak railing in my basement. Excellent coverage on treated plywood after just one coat. Perfect thickness and coverage.
Cons
Only reason for 1* was leaked during shipment and was not usable. The instructions suggest to top coat in one hour, but my project was still tacky 4 - 5 hours after priming. Wire two masks and still was irritating to my lungs.
Highlights
Quality
Had to do two layers on my dark furniture but i was very impressed with the results.
I did degloss beforehand, not sure if that was even necessary but was happy with the results regardless.
Based on other reviews, i let this product cure for a few days before sanding or painting over it.
Did not need stain coverage, but just wanted a high quality primer.
Packaging/appearance
Good quality and packaging came in great shape.
Competitiveness
I have a nikon d5300 and it worked like a charm with it.
