Pros & Cons
Pros
The cooker is small but mighty. The three cup size is good for a daily rice cooker for 1-2 people depending on how mich rice you eat!
This rice cooker is like getting off a bicycle and getting on a motorcycle. This replaces a 20 year old rice cooker. This cooker does what it is supposed to do really well.
The steam cover is easily removable to clean. Easy to clean with detachable inner lid and rice scooper rest is a plus.
Cooked rice comes out even and fluffy as i expected of any japanese-styled cooker. You could eat it alone and it would be the best thing you've ever tasted.
This is the best and most economical model. It cooks basmati, thai jasmine, japanese white and japanese brown rice. It also makes excellent sushi rice.
Cons
It now makes mushy, overcooked rice. The quality is gone. This is ridiculous.
Highlights
Quality
It produces fantastic rice, and the hold feature after it cooks is very nice.
The reliability and durability of the device are further emphasized by the fact that my parents' model has been going strong fo... Read More
It is not the hard shelled brown rice my old rice cooker made.
I've never had bad rice from this, even with terrible water to rice ratios.
Price
I'm very happy with this one - it's pricer but it's worth it.
This is not a cheap rice cooker - but it is worth every penny.
I’ve used instapots, cheap $20 cookers, stovetop, everything to make rice.
No, i don't get paid for this.
Shipping
Purchased right away and delivery was quick.
Night and received it the next tuesday.
Packaging/appearance
It looks very nice from the outside, but sadly it's a bit too small for our family of 4 since it's only 3 cups of uncooked rice.
I bought this in acceptable condition at the amazon warehouse (a bad cosmetic ding on the side, did not impair function).
Competitiveness
Of course, the stainless steel wrap on the zojirushi is very attractive and its smaller size makes it a better fit in the cupboard.
First of all, we never required that much rice and the elephant brand cookers were always considered the best when we lived in japan.
Finally, the opportunity arose, and i opted for the usa factory version, which proved to be more budget-friendly.
We tried the jasmine setting and it was even better.
