Pros

The mug keeps my coffee hot - warm for 8+ hours. Keeps my coffee cold all the way from home in the subway to work. I use it to make tea every day and no odor sticks to it. The only downside is that the coffee stays so hot.

I feel confident tightening the lid on and tossing it into my backpack or tote bag that no liquid will spill. It's also light compared to the other water bottles and does not leak too much.

The inside of the mug is highly polished as well. This helps if you want to add ice cubes or even fruit to the mug.

Cons

My biggest fear with zojirushi products is with the rubber lining getting moldy. Bought a comparable $10 thermos brand. It does not retain heat as well as the black one for some reason, also the inside lining is different.

The lid consists of four parts (to assist in cleaning, zojirushi claims), yet all it does is screw on and off. Utterly useless as a mug.

Zojirushi is actually a superior brand to tiger, which reflected on the price as well.

Packaging/appearance

I specifically bought this as i needed a travel mug with a narrow diameter; specifically to the fit the cup holder in the a320.

In contrast the flip-top you just flip it open and the top stays attached to the container.

Competitiveness

This is my 5th zojirushi stainless steel travel mug.

But, i hv a zojirushi thermos from years back, and it keeps my liquids piping hot for over 36 hrs.

I bought a larger zojirushi thermos for non-coffee beverages (or ice water in summer)-- the gaskets do retain flavor, so keep that in mind.
