It costs more and it isn't even all butter (some oil i think) but it is soft and when you make a piece of toast -- no tears or rips.
To top it off, this is beyond reasonably priced - something that is getting to be more and more rare these days.

The lid doesnt rest perfectly flat against the cistern but its fine and gives it a bit of a handmade feel

I liked that it came with a cute matching pink butter knife but was immediately disappointed when i tried to use it to install some butter in the crock and the knife bent
